Hello, my name is Daria Dillard Stone, The Servant. Welcome to the Sharing Ministries Blog: Conversations Of Courage entitled She Never Gave Up!
What are Conversations Of Courage? Glad you asked. Let’s break it down. Conversation means a talk, especially an informal one, between two or more people, in which news and ideas are exchanged. Courage is defined as the ability to do something that frightens you, finding strength in the face of pain and/or grief. So CONVERSATIONS OF COURAGE is a communication and dialogue where I will teach/share information and exchange ideas/news/experiences with you and vice versa.
How many times have you felt like giving up? What made you keep going? If you are reading this blog now, you can say without a shadow of a doubt that You Never Gave Up because you are still here! “She Never Gave Up” was part of the title (thank you, Jessica Watters East for the idea and the flyer) for Sharing Ministries 10th Anniversary in 2020. I want to share with you how that name came about.
Jessica called me in 2019 to set up a meeting to discuss the Tenth Anniversary of Sharing Ministries. I was sitting in her office and was talking about what various “catchy” titles we could use and said, “one thing about me I never give up (on God using me). Jess then stated, “She Never Gave Up that is you, and that is the title.” What I did not know is from that point, I was forced by default – to be tested in the “She Never Gave Up” category like never before.
Stay with me because I want you to fully understand whether or not you are a person that never gives up by the time you finish reading this Blog. If I were to define what it means never to give up, I’d summarize my definition using the following:
It means believing in you when no one else does.
It means getting past the no’s you will get and focus on that one yes that is coming.
It means you accept you messed up or you mess up. Look at failure as an opportunity and not an opposition.
It means not compromising and/or complaining. However, it is healthy to pray and vent.
It means letting people see you sweat, see you fearful but still walking to your purpose.
It means finding out who you are at your very core. Do you run with life is too much for you?
It means you can finally say, ” don’t look at my past – because I am no longer there.”
It means being prepared when opportunities come – whether you know everything about the assignment or not.
Do you realize how many synonyms there are for “never giving up?” Allow me to share.
Long-lasting, abiding, durable, continuing, persisting, eternal, perennial, permanent, unending, everlasting; constant, stable, steady, steadfast, unwavering, unfaltering, tenacious, persevering, determined, resolute, purposeful, dogged, single-minded, tireless, indefatigable, patient, unflagging, untiring, insistent, importunate, relentless, unrelenting; stubborn, intransigent, obstinate, constant, continuous, continuing, nonstop, never-ending, steady, and endless.
The picture you see on this particular blog represents some of the wonderful women I have met who encouraged, engaged, and enticed me to Never Giving Up. The book that is being held showcases me as one of the “featured authors or co-authors.” I never knew when I would write a book, but my dream was to one day do just that. When the opportunity was presented to me, I was prepared. Although many wondered why I was “highlighting and showcasing” a book that really wasn’t my work but displayed only a chapter I wrote,” I gladly responded with a smile and thought to myself, “Because I never give up. I have never written a chapter in a book (in School Choice or Parental Education manuals) until this one.” That was an honor for me and the other authors.
I share this communication just 2 days before my 70th birthday so I know a little something about “Never Giving Up.” Whatever you have been through, are going through, or have come out of – give yourself credit for You Never Gave Up!
Because I care, I share
